About
I am an Asssistant Professor in Human Computer Interaction Design at Indiana University School of Informatics and Computing. Trained in Comparative Literature, I approach HCI in ways that reflect my humanist background. In particular, major research projects have considered feminism and interaction design; human sexuality, identity, and experience; the role of everyday life, including craft and DIY, in contemporary interaction; and affective and emotional aspects of interaction. Between my graduate studies and returning to academic life in HCI, I worked for several years in digital media production and management, during which times I also published some books on Web development with Macromedia Press.
I was born and raised in Taipei, Taiwan and came to the States in the 1990s to pursue graduate education. Today, I am happily married to Jeffrey Bardzell, and we share our home with a dog and several cats. In my free time, I cross-stitch, watch British TV, and do imaginary interior design for my equally imaginary Eichler home.
